About us

Bethan’s political career in Wales is marked by her 15-year tenure as a Senedd Member, where she made history as the youngest female politician elected at 25. She chaired the Senedd’s Culture, Welsh Language and Communications Committee from 2017 to 2021 and held the position of Plaid Cymru’s Shadow Minister for various sectors, including education, housing, and culture.

Her influence extended to European politics as a Senedd Representative on the Committee of the Regions and as a participant in the British Irish Inter Parliamentary body. She played a pivotal role in selecting the Welsh Language Commissioner and the Auditor General for Wales and led numerous cross-party groups, focusing on issues such as eating disorders, workers’ rights, and violence against women and girls.

Bethan championed significant health campaigns, including the introduction of new treatments for Cystic Fibrosis and improvements in NHS governance. She also advocated for music education, community journalism, and the rights of asylum seekers and refugees.

After her Senedd career, Bethan contributed to the Women’s Equality Network, promoting job sharing in politics. Her research influenced policy changes. She produced content for BBC Radio Cymru on various social issues and co-produced a program on political job sharing.

As a leader of the Warm this Winter campaign with Climate Cymru, Bethan raised awareness about climate issues in the Senedd and media. Her efforts led to a critical report on prepayment meters in Wales. She continues to coordinate policy development and facilitate discussions on environmental transitions.

Currently, Bethan chairs the Companion Animal Welfare group Wales and consults for Oxfam Cymru on childcare. Her consultancy work includes delivering workshops for charities engaging with the Senedd and making regular media appearances, leveraging her extensive experience for successful campaign strategies.
